BUZA Community Guidelines
Help people. Don't make things harder for them.
The one rule underneath all the others
Someone arrives on BUZA stuck. Maybe they're embarrassed to ask, maybe they've been told the answer is "obvious" before. Everything below flows from one idea: don't make things harder for them.
On BUZA, it must be okay to say "I don't know" and "Can someone help me?" Those two sentences are why this platform exists. Nobody should feel small for asking, and nobody should feel pressured to bluff.
How we treat each other
- Be respectful. Disagree with ideas, not with people.
- Help where you can. You don't need to be an expert — lived experience counts.
- Let people ask freely. No question is too basic if someone needs the answer.
- Don't shame people for not knowing something. "Google it" is not an answer here.
- Don't deliberately mislead people. If you're unsure, say so. If you were wrong, correct it.
- Explain things clearly. Plain language, step by step. Jargon helps nobody who's stuck.
- Respect different languages. South Africa speaks many languages. Be patient with translation and accents, and never mock how someone writes.
- Respect different backgrounds. This platform is for everyone, everywhere in the country.
- Protect people's privacy. Never share someone's personal details, and don't dig for them.
- Give credit. If you built on someone else's explanation, work or resource, say so.
How we treat the platform
- Don't spam. No repeated promotions, link dumps or copy-paste advertising.
- Don't manipulate Helpful and Confirmed signals. No asking friends to mass-react, no vote swapping, no bots. These signals only mean something if they're honest.
- Don't abuse reporting. Reports are for real problems, not for silencing people you disagree with.
- Don't impersonate experts or officials. If you're a qualified professional, you can say what your field is — don't invent credentials.
- Follow each Room's own rules, set by its owner — within these guidelines and the Terms of Use.
What happens when someone doesn't follow these
Moderators may remove content, mute or remove people from Rooms, and restrict accounts — the details are in the Terms of Use. Fairness matters: where it's practical, you'll be told why, and you can always write to samkelondlovu366@gmail.com if you think a decision was wrong.
